Free HTML Sitemap Generator — Turn a URL List or XML Sitemap Into a Visitor Sitemap Page

Paste your URLs, or the contents of an XML sitemap, and this HTML sitemap generator builds a clean, grouped page of links for your visitors: ready-to-paste HTML or a full downloadable page. It never fetches your site: it only uses what you paste. No signup, nothing leaves your browser.

One URL per line. Add | Custom title to set a link title. Page titles are otherwise made from the URL slug.

What an HTML Sitemap Is, and How It Differs From an XML Sitemap

An HTML sitemap is an ordinary web page of links that helps visitors find content. An XML sitemap is a file written for search engines. They solve different problems, and having one does not replace the other. Google's own sitemap documentation covers the XML format only: it describes the file you submit, its size limits of 50MB uncompressed or 50,000 URLs per sitemap, and the tags it reads. An HTML sitemap is a navigation and usability choice, and a useful one on large sites where a visitor may struggle to find a page through menus alone.

What This HTML Sitemap Generator Produces

  • A grouped list of links using a clean, semantic nav element with one heading and list per section
  • Readable link titles made from each URL slug, or from the custom title you type after a |
  • Relative links when a URL belongs to the same domain, so the page works on staging and live
  • A full page download if you want a standalone file, or just the snippet to paste into your CMS

Who Should Build an HTML Sitemap

Sites with many pages, deep category trees or content that menus do not surface get the most value. A small brochure site with ten pages rarely needs one. If you do build one, keep it to pages that visitors should reach, link it from the footer, and keep it current. Do not list noindex, redirected or error pages, since an HTML sitemap with dead links frustrates the visitors it is meant to help. Check each link before you publish.

How to Use the Output

  1. Paste your URLs or an XML sitemap into the box. Use the skip field to drop tag, author or filter URLs.
  2. Edit the titles you want to improve by adding | Custom title to a line.
  3. Copy the HTML and paste it into a page in your CMS, or download the full page.
  4. Link the page from your footer and add it to your XML sitemap only if you want it indexed.
  5. Validate your XML file separately with the sitemap validator, and generate one with the XML sitemap generator if you do not have it.

HTML Sitemap Generator FAQs

Is an HTML sitemap the same as an XML sitemap?

No. An XML sitemap is a file for search engines. An HTML sitemap is a normal page of links for visitors.

Does my site need an HTML sitemap?

Large or deep sites benefit most. Small sites with clear navigation rarely need one. It is a usability choice, not a requirement.

Does the tool crawl my website?

No. It only uses the URLs or XML you paste, so you decide exactly what is listed.

How do I make a visual sitemap?

A visual sitemap is a diagram of site structure used in planning. This tool builds the live, linked HTML page. The grouped output shows your structure as sections and links.

Where should I put the HTML sitemap?

Link it from the footer of every page so visitors and crawlers can find it.

Does this tool store or send my data anywhere?

No. Everything is written in your browser with JavaScript — nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored on any server, including ours.
