Free Sitemap URL Extractor — Pull Every URL From a sitemap.xml

Paste a sitemap.xml and this free sitemap URL extractor turns it into a clean list of URLs you can copy or download as CSV, with optional last-modified dates. Works on sitemap index files too. No signup, nothing leaves your browser.

What This Does

 • Pulls every <loc> from a <urlset> sitemap into a plain list, ready for a spreadsheet, a crawler or a redirect map
 • Reads sitemap index files — if the root is <sitemapindex>, it lists the child sitemap addresses so you know which files to paste next
 • Keeps <lastmod> in CSV mode, so you can sort by the date each page was last changed
 • Filters by path — keep only URLs containing text such as /blog/ or /products/
 • Removes duplicates and counts what is left
 • Decodes XML entities — an & in the file comes out as a normal & in the list

When Pulling URLs Out of a Sitemap Helps

A sitemap is machine-readable, which makes it awkward to read by eye. Once the addresses are a plain list you can paste them into a spreadsheet and count pages by folder, compare them with a crawl to find pages that are in the sitemap but not linked internally, or build a redirect map before a migration. It is also a quick way to see how many URLs you are really asking Google to look at.

Sitemaps have size limits: a single file can hold up to 50,000 URLs and 50MB uncompressed, so large sites split theirs into several files listed in a sitemap index. If you paste an index here, the tool shows the child sitemap addresses instead of page URLs. Open each child file, paste it, and extract from there.

Sitemap URL Extractor FAQs

Does this tool fetch my sitemap from a URL?

No. Paste the contents. Browsers block most cross-site requests to other people's files, and pasting keeps your data off every server, including ours.

What if my sitemap is a sitemap index?

The tool detects a <sitemapindex> root and lists the child sitemap locations. Each child file then needs to be pasted separately to get its page URLs.

Can I get the last modified dates too?

Yes. Switch the output format to CSV and each row will include the <lastmod> value when the sitemap provides one.

Does it work with compressed .xml.gz sitemaps?

Not directly. Unzip the file first and paste the XML text.

Is there a limit on how many URLs I can paste?

The tool has no limit of its own. Very large files may feel slow in the text box, since everything runs in your browser.

Does this tool store or send my data anywhere?

No. Everything is processed in your browser with JavaScript — nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored on any server, including ours.
