Free Schema Markup Validator — Check JSON-LD Syntax and Required Properties
Paste JSON-LD or a page's HTML and this free schema markup validator parses every block, finds syntax errors and checks the properties Google documents for FAQ, Breadcrumb, Article, Product, LocalBusiness and Organization markup. No signup, nothing leaves your browser.
Paste JSON-LD to validate it.
What the Validator Checks
- Syntax. Every JSON-LD block is parsed. Trailing commas, unquoted keys and broken quotes are reported with the parser's message.
- Context and type. Each block needs an
@contextthat points at schema.org and an@typeon every node, including nodes inside@graph. - Google's documented properties. For FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Article, BlogPosting, NewsArticle, Product, LocalBusiness (and its subtypes) and Organization, the tool checks required and recommended properties from Google's structured data documentation.
- Values. URL properties should be absolute, dates should be ISO 8601 and text values should not be empty.
- Other types. Types without Google-specific rules are checked for syntax and basic shape only.
What This Validator Cannot Tell You
The tool checks the markup you paste, with rules taken from Google's documentation. It is not Google's Rich Results Test, and it cannot confirm that Google will show a rich result. Eligibility also depends on whether the markup matches visible page content, whether the page is indexed and, for some features, on the site itself. For example, Google says FAQ rich results are only shown for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. Use this validator to catch mistakes quickly, then confirm important pages with the Rich Results Test and the URL Inspection tool.
Schema Markup Validator FAQs
Does this tool fetch my live page?
No. You paste JSON-LD or the page's HTML. Browsers block most cross-site requests, and pasting keeps your data off every server, including ours.
Is this the same as Google's Rich Results Test?
No. This tool applies the documented required and recommended properties and checks syntax. Google's Rich Results Test is the authority on whether a page is eligible for a rich result.
Why does it say "no Google-specific rules" for my type?
The type is valid schema.org vocabulary but has no rules built into this tool. Syntax and basic shape are still checked.
Can I paste a whole page's HTML?
Yes. The tool extracts every application/ld+json script block and validates each one separately. Microdata and RDFa are not read.
Does this tool store or send my data anywhere?
No. The markup is parsed in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored on any server, including ours.
