Free Outbound Link Checker — List Every External Link on a Page, Grouped by Domain
Paste the HTML of a page and this outbound link checker lists every external link, groups them by domain, shows which carry nofollow, sponsored or ugc, and flags insecure, shortened, affiliate-looking and repeated links. It runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded.
Paste a page's HTML to start.
What the Outbound Link Checker Looks For
- External links by domain: every link that points to a different domain, counted and grouped, so you can see who you link to most
- Link status: followed, nofollow, sponsored or ugc, read from each link's
relattribute, plus a page-level robots nofollow if the page has one - Insecure links: links that start with http instead of https
- Shortened links: bit.ly, t.co and similar, which hide the real destination
- Affiliate-looking links: links with parameters such as ref, aff or tag, or tracking-style paths. If you are paid for them, Google asks you to mark them sponsored
- Repeated and empty links: the same URL linked several times, and links with no visible text
What Google Says About Outbound Links
Google's documentation on qualifying outbound links says regular links that you expect Google to fetch and parse need no rel attribute. For others, it asks you to use rel="sponsored" for advertisements and paid placements, rel="ugc" for user-generated content such as comments and forum posts, and rel="nofollow" when other values do not apply and you would rather Google did not associate your site with the linked page. Its spam policies also list buying or selling links for ranking purposes as link spam. This tool reads the attributes it finds. It does not judge whether a link was paid for, so use the results as a prompt to review.
How to Use the Report
- Before publishing a sponsored post: paste the page and confirm every paid link is marked sponsored.
- When auditing an old article: look for http links, shortened links and domains that no longer match the page's topic.
- When checking a guest post you received: see how many outbound links it carries and where they point.
- For link attribute detail on every link, including internal ones, use the dofollow link checker. For link text, use the anchor text checker.
Outbound Link Checker FAQs
What is an outbound link?
It is a link on your page that points to a page on a different domain. Links to other pages on your own domain are internal links.
Should outbound links be nofollow?
Not by default. Google says regular links you expect it to follow need no rel attribute. It asks for sponsored on paid links, ugc on user-generated links, and nofollow when you would rather not be associated with the page.
Does the tool visit the links to see if they work?
No. It reads only the HTML you paste and never fetches any URL, so it cannot tell whether a link is broken. Use it to list and review links, then test the important ones yourself.
How many outbound links is too many?
Google gives no limit. Link where it helps the reader, and use the report to spot a page where links look excessive or off-topic.
How does it decide a link is affiliate-looking?
It looks for common parameters such as ref, aff, affiliate and tag, and for paths such as /go/ and /out/. It is a prompt, not proof, so check any flagged link.
Does this tool store or send my data anywhere?
No. Everything is analysed in your browser with JavaScript — nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored on any server, including ours.
